For those of you that are new to DraftKings here is a beginners guide with the scoring and rules explained from the official website. DraftKings Guide
Drew Brees, NO vs PHI, $6,500 – The MVP candidate draws a favourable opponent as he looks to keep the Saints march towards January moving at full pace. Further Saints will feature below so expect more big numbers from Brees this weekend.
DeShaun Watson, HOU at WAS, $5,700 – The Texans signal caller is looking more and more like the 2017 version of himself and draws a match-up against a bend but don’t break Washington defence that ranks just 25th against the pass.
Ezekiel Elliott, DAL vs. ATL $8,500 — Zeke will likely find his way into my lineup this week against a weak Falcons run defence. A true workhorse at the position, Zeke has been on the field for 89% of the Cowboys offensive snaps and provides a threat through the air along with the ground game.
Alvin Kamara, NO vs PHI, $8,200 – The most targeted player in the red zone with 21 targets is the Saints very own Swiss army knife out of the backfield. In a game that could easily become high scoring, look for Kamara to have another big day.
Mark Ingram, NO vs. PHI, $4,700 – If you want a bit more value than how does Alvin Kamara’s running mate suit you?Ingram is certainly less explosive but still sees around half of the snaps each week and against an Eagles defence surrendering an average of 127 rushing yards over the past 4 weeks it easy to see big days for both Saints backs.
Alex Collins, BAL vs. CIN, $4,400 – Collins finds himself at the top of the Ravens depth chart in a favourable match-up against a Bengals team giving up the 3rd most DraftKings points to running backs. Add in the fact its looking likely to be the debut of a rookie QB and Collins may see an uptick in usage.
Michael Thomas, NO vs. PHI, $8,800 — It’s a Saints heavy week with the high powered Rams and Chiefs not involved and Drew Brees favourite target draws a dream match-up. The Eagles are suffering from a combination of injuries and poor play in the secondary so expect plenty of catches and yards from Thomas.
Odell Beckham, Jr., NYG vs. TB, $8,400 — Assuming that we see at least a decent version of Eli Manning on Sunday the look for Odell to have a big day. The Bucs rank 29th against the pass and OBJ has seen at least double figure targets in 8 of his 9 contests so far this season.
Nelson Agholor, PHL at NO, $4,100 — Expect an increase in workload for Golden Tate and a move to the slot for Agholor. The Eagles almost certainly will be pass-heavy to keep up with the Saints as their miserable run game has no chance against the tough Saints’ rush defence, so expect Agholor to see the field plenty.
Zac Ertz, PHL at NO, $6,600 – The most expensive option is sometimes the best and as Carson Wentz most reliable target look for plenty of targets to head the way of Ertz. I have stated already that this game could produce points for several players so look for Ertz to take advantage of the Saints 31st ranked pass defence.
Jonnu Smith, TEN at IND, $2,700 — At the other end of the value scale is Jonnu Smith. His role has been growing lately, and he has found the end zone in back-to-back games coming into this weekend so he has nice upside to consider even though he is still not a high-volume option in the Titans’ offence.
Finding touchdowns from your unit is often the difference maker on a Sunday but that is often difficult to predict so instead I will call out some favourable match-ups for you to find your defence. The 2 that stand out to me this week would be the Steelers against Blake Bortles and the Jags, or the Cardinals who draw the scoring shy Raiders.
Good luck to any of you playing DraftKings this week.
